Easy Strawberry Sauce (With fresh or frozen strawberries)

This strawberry sauce is made by simmering down fresh or frozen strawberries which intensifies the strawberry flavour.

This sauce is a great way to use up a glut of strawberries or frozen strawberries and you can preserve it to last for ages!

–You Need Just 4 Ingredients  Fresh or frozen ripe strawberries. – Granulated white sugar – Lemon or lime juice – Pinch of salt

In summer fresh berries are juicy and sweet, but in the winter frozen strawberries will trump the fresh ones. They are usually frozen at their peak ripeness and sweetness.

roughly chop the strawberries into small pieces. Combine the strawberries in a medium saucepan over low heat along with sugar, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.

cook the strawberries for around 15 minutes until the strawberries begin to break down.

Push them through a sieve with a wooden spoon, rubbing them along the bottom of the sieve. Take your time doing this to get all the strawberry pulp you can.

Pour the finished sauce into clean jars.  Alternatively, use a stick blender to blend the sauce.

How to use the sauce: – Swirl it over ice cream – Dollop it over a vanilla cake  – Use as a strawberry sauce for cheesecake – Add to a smoothie - Drizzled over pancakes
